Golden Grizzlies Close Out Regular Season Against IUPUI in High-Stakes Seeding Game

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Golden Grizzlies look to end the regular season on a three-game win streak as they take on IUPUI for Senior Day at the OU Credit Union O'rena.

Oakland is fresh off of back-to-back wins, beating Wright State 84-82 on Thursday. The Golden Grizzlies forced the Raiders into 23 turnovers and scored 25 points off the turnovers, marking the second game in a row where they've caused 20-plus turnovers and scored 25-plus points off of them, signaling a recipe for success for the team.

Linda Van Schaik also had a huge game, pouring in a career-high 31 points (11-of-22), including all eight of Oakland's points in the first overtime. Brooke Quarles-Daniels continued a season sure to get her an All-League bid, scoring 21 points as well.

Oakland's defense has been stellar in this two game stretch. They continue to create turnovers and capitalize off of them, putting pressure on their opponents knowing that every mistake is costly against the Golden Grizzlies.

Not only has the defense come into form, but the offense is keeping pace. Oakland is already the number three scoring offense in the league, averaging 71.7 points per game, but now the efficiency is starting to increase all while the volume is still present. Oakland shot .466 (34-of-73) from the floor against Wright State.

The Golden Grizzlies prepare to face IUPUI, a team who they've already gotten the best of this season. Back on Jan. 28, Oakland defeated the Jags 65-59 on the road, breaking a 14-game losing streak in head-to-head matchups against IUPUI.

In the game Maddy Skorupski led the way offensively, scoring 13 points, trailed by Markyia McCromick's 12 points. Defense lifted the Golden Grizzlies in the game, forcing the Jags to go the entire 40 minutes without a made three-pointer, going 0-of-15 from deep.

This game is a giant game for Oakland, who can clinch the number eight seed in the Horizon League Championship with a win. With help, Oakland could still rise as high as the number five seed, securing a first-round bye in the league tournament.

SCOUTING THE JAGS

IUPUI comes into the game with a 4-14 conference record, cementing their spot as the number 10 seed for the tournament after a 59-64 loss to Detroit Mercy on Thursday.

The Jags have had a rough end to the season, losing seven of their last eight games coming into the season finale against Oakland. The Jags have the worst scoring defense in the league, allowing 75.3 points per game. They also allow the most opponent rebounds per game (38.8) and commit the second most turnovers per game (18.6), all stats that play well into Oakland's play style.

A bright spot for IUPUI has been guard Katie Davidson, who ranks third in the Horizon League in points per game (16.4).
