St. Augustine, FL- The Oakland Men's Golf team started their spring season with a top 15 finish at the World Golf Villiage Collegiate hosted by EKU. The Grizzlies started of the tournament strong the first two rounds, posting a combined 6 over par, and saw themselves in the top 5. Unfortunately, the Grizzlies played their final 9 holes of the tournament over par which saw them drop down the leaderboard.
Junior Ed Rowe had a career week, shooting even par for the three rounds and finishing in 13th place, a career best. Freshman
Ben Willis and
Robert Burns were next for the Golden Grizzlies firing 222 and 223, respectively. Sophmores
Ellis Kinnaird and
Luke Kelly rounded out the scoring for the Grizzlies firing 228 and 230.
Playing as an individual, Freshman
Matteo Rocco recorded a first round 80 before bouncing back and firing a two under, 70 and a one over, 73 in his final two rounds. Graduate student
Anthony Comito improved each round firing rounds of 76,75,74.
The Grizzlies will start their annual spring break trip this Saturday in Orlando before rounding out the week at Daytona Beach in Stetson's tournament.
