YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Golden Grizzlies track and field team wrapped up its 2023-24 indoor season as the men's team placed third, with 78.5 points, while the women placed fifth with 48 points. Eddie Harrell III was the sole Golden Grizzly who was crowned champion in his respective event, while many Golden Grizzlies earned the team points on both sides.

DAY 1
The Golden Grizzlies were off and running Saturday afternoon in day one of the 2024 Indoor #HLTF Championships as 11 Golden Grizzlies grabbed points for the team and saw multiple student-athletes advance to the finals.

Ke'vina Finch sped to the finish in both the Women's 60m Race and the 200m Race, as she qualified for the finals in both. In the 60m, she placed fifth with a time of 7.64, while she crossed the line in sixth in the 200m race with a time of 25.02.

The team saw a runner from both the men's and women's side qualify for championship Sunday in the 400m Race, as Justice Stewart finished with a personal best of 49.16, good for third, while Grace Hungerford crossed the line, also with a personal best, in fifth with a time of 57.34. To keep pace with performers on both ends, the 800m saw a pair from both sides qualify for Sunday. Eddie Harrell III and TJ Brooks crossed the finish line in second and eighth with times of 1:55.04 and 1:55.60, respectively, while Abby Jackson and Ashley Quinn finished first and fourth with times of 2:13.98 and 2:16.97.

Oakland grabbed its first points on the day in the Men's and Women's 5k Race as Yami Albrecht led the pack in fourth, with a time of 14:19.96, as Colin Kane was right behind in eighth with a time of 14:34.96. Erin Hegarty and Jennifer Ohlsson earned the team points also as Hegarty crossed in sixth, while Ohlsson finished eighth.

The weight throw squad on the men's side showed out as the team placed second, third and fourth as Romario Jackson set a school record and placed second with a distance of 18.65. Blake Foster finished third with a distance of 16.91m, while Alex Mansfield was right behind in fourth to earn points with a distance of 16.67m.

The women rounded out day one as Brooke Hinkelman, Haileigh Bissett, Hannah Fisher and Makenna Scott sped across the finish line in the Women's Distance Medley Relay in third with a time of 12:08.93 for the final points of the day.

After day one, the men found itself in second place behind Youngstown as it looked to gain ground early on Sunday.

DAY 2
Albrecht got things started on championship Sunday as he placed second in the 1 Mile Race with a time of 4:11.06, as Wesley Hollowell earned points for the team and set a new personal best in fifth place with a time of 4:12.12. Also in the 1 Mile Race, but on the women's side, Hannah Fisher earned points in fourth place with a time of 4:57.57.

The team kept it coming in the 400m Race on both sides, as Justice Stewart placed himself second as he sped across the finish line in 48.86, while Grace Hungerford earned points with a time of 56.79.

The team showed out in the 800m Race on both ends, most notably Eddie Harrell III who was crowned champion for the men with a time of 1:52.29, while TJ Brooks was close behind and earned third place with a time of 1:53.12. The women also placed a pair in the top three, as Abby Jackson and Ashley Quinn finished second and third, respectively, with times of 2:13.85 and 2:14.43.

On the field, both Alex Mansfield and Blake Foster earned points in the Shot Put, as Mansfield set a personal best of 16.07m, while Foster scored points with a distance of 15.15m.

The men's 4x400m team earned points for the Golden Grizzlies as it crossed the line in fourth, while the women placed itself on the podium and finished in third place to wrap up the 2024 indoor track and field season.
