Men's Soccer Looks to Go Five Games Unbeaten as they Head to Milwaukee

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Golden Grizzlies are looking to make it five straight games unbeaten as they are gearing up to hit the road to take on the Panthers in Milwaukee.

3-0-2 in the last five games, Oakland is hitting midseason stride on the pitch and are playing some of their best soccer on both sides of the ball.

The last matchup between these two teams was on September 30th, 2023 and Oakland came out on top 2-1. The Panthers and Golden Grizzlies have always played tight contests. Over the years, Oakland holds a 7-8-2 head-to-head record. Despite just a slightly under .500 head-to-head record against the Panthers, the Golden Grizzlies haven't lost to the Panthers since 2018.

The Panthers and the Golden Grizzlies will be putting up a battle, as the Panthers come into the week 4-2-3 on the season. Even with that record, Milwaukee has yet to secure a win in conference play (0-2-1).

The team's matchup closely on paper, as Oakland has 11 goals on the year while Milwaukee has 12 goals. Milwaukee's junior forward Alejandro Martinez leads the scoring charge, having taken 23 shots, the 4th most in the Horizon League, while scoring six goals himself. He matches up with Oakland's deep attacking lineup with sophomore forward Andrew Darakdjian, who has taken 18 shots, ninth most in the Horizon League and junior forward Jack Klomparens, who has a team-best three goals on the year, the 10th most in the Horizon League.

The Golden Grizzlies are also anchored on the back end by fifth year goalkeeper Alex Flowers who continues to guard the goal and has the second highest number of saves in the league with 36, averaging 4.5 saves per game.

Sure to be one of the league's premier matchups this week, catch this match on Saturday, Oct. 5th, at Engelmann Stadium at 2 p.m on ESPN+.
