CINCINNATI, Ohio – In their final competition of the fall, the Oakland Men's Golf team finished eighth at the Musketeers Invitational.
In the first round of play Monday, the Golden Grizzlies saw three players in the top 20. Individual
Ellis Kinnaird finished the first round in 14th place after shooting 72 (+2).
Brennan Sullivan and
Luke Kelly tied for 19th place after shooting 73 (+3). As a team, the Golden Grizzlies completed the first round with a 295 total (+15).
Kinnaird continued his individual success through the second round. In the second round, Kinnaird shot a 74 (+4), earning him 18th at the end of the round. The Golden Grizzlies slipped to 10th place following the second round after shooting 306 (+26).
Luke Kelly finished the second round shooting 74 (+4) and
Bhavneet Sohal shot 76 (+6).
Going into Tuesday, the Golden Grizzlies looked to have a sense of urgency for the final round. With that determination, the Men's Golf team posted their best round.
Bhavneet Sohal had his best round of the invitational, where he shot 71 (+1).
Luke Kelly and
Brennan Sullivan were right behind him, both shooting 72 (+2).
Robert Burns completed the final round shooting 74 (+4) and
Jack Zubkus shot 76 (+6). This push helped the Golden Grizzlies post a final round of 289 (+9). Overall, the Golden Grizzlies finished in eighth place (+50).
In the final round,
Ellis Kinnaird posted a total of 74 (+4) strokes, putting him tied for 21st individually after a 219 total.
This fall the Oakland Men's Golf team has posted impressive results. They have earned two first-place team finishes and two second-place team finishes this fall, of their five competitions. In addition,
Luke Kelly earned his first collegiate individual win at the Tom Tontimonia Invitational. At the Golden Grizzlies Intercollegiate,
Robert Burns earned an individual second place finish.
With fall competition completed, the Golden Grizzlies will be preparing for the remaining tournaments that will begin in February. Spring competition will kick off with a tournament in Richmond, Kentucky, where the Golden Grizzlies will compete in the World Golf Village Collegiate.
