GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Golden Grizzlies volleyball team fell to the Green Bay Phoenix in four sets this afternoon inside the Kress Center.

SET ONE - OAKLAND 15, GREEN BAY 25
Oakland dropped the first set to Green Bay, 25-15, despite some competitive stretches early on. The Golden Grizzlies opened the set with a kill by
Sydney Green and
Gentry Brown, putting them ahead, 2-1, however, Green Bay quickly responded and grew its lead to 6-3. Green Bay continued and built its score to 11-4 before a service error and a
Libby Smith kill ended the run.
Oakland continued to fight, but Green Bay's consistent attack allowed the Phoenix to pull away. The Golden Grizzlies fought to stay in the set as it went on a 4-0 run to make it 17-14 and hung around, but the Phoenix ended the set on a 6-0 run to take the initial set.

SET TWO - OAKLAND 28, GREEN BAY 26
In a thrilling second set, Oakland emerged victorious with a hard-fought 28-26 win over Green Bay to even the match at one set apiece. The Golden Grizzlies showed resilience and composure, battling through multiple lead changes and pressure-filled moments to secure the set.
Sydney Green and
Christina Bohm led Oakland's efforts at the net, with Green delivering the set-winning block alongside Bohm to cap off the comeback.
Ainsley Guse and
Libby Smith provided key offensive contributions, and Guse's clutch attack helped push Oakland ahead late.
After fending off a set point at 26-25 to tie things up at 26, thanks to Green who continued to add to her tally of kills, Oakland took advantage of an attack error by the Phoenix before the final blow of the set was given by Bohm and Green at the net.

SET THREE - OAKLAND 14, GREEN BAY 25
 In the third set, Oakland put up a competitive effort but ultimately fell, 25-14. The Golden Grizzlies got off to a promising start with kills from Green and Smith, keeping the score tight early on. A string of errors from Green Bay allowed Oakland to inch ahead, 6-1, before Green Bay found their rhythm, closing the gap quickly.
Despite solid play from Oakland's
Rachel Rossman and contributions from
Ainsley Guse and Bohm, Green Bay's strong serving and a flurry of kills shifted the momentum as several attack errors and a service ace from Green Bay pushed the lead further.
Late in the set, Oakland's defense struggled to contain Green Bay's offensive pressure, closing out the set decisively to go up, 2-1.

SET FOUR - OAKLAND 19, GREEN BAY 25
 In the fourth set, Oakland showed resilience but fell short to Green Bay, 25-19. The set began with Oakland battling for early momentum, as
Tyler Linkhart tallied back-to-back kills to jump ahead, 3-0. Despite strong contributions from Smith and Green, Green Bay capitalized on errors from the Golden Grizzlies and established a lead midway through the set.
A late kill by Green brought the Golden Grizzlies within striking distance at 23-19, but Green Bay sealed the set with a block and a final kill to close out the match.

Green led the Golden Grizzlies once again with 12 kills as Smith was right behind with 10. At the net, Green also added four block assists as Smith tacked on the sole solo block of the night. A trio of Golden Grizzlies tacked on an ace, while
Emily Wichmann was the anchor of the defense with 18 digs.

The Golden Grizzlies return home for the first time since Oct. 5 next weekend for a series against IU Indy Friday (Oct. 25) and Saturday (Oct. 26), with first set slated for 6:00 p.m. ET and 2:00 p.m. ET, respectively. Both matches will be streamed live on ESPN+, as Oakland will also celebrate Senior Weekend, Alumnae Weekend and a 10-Year Championship Anniversary Celebration.
