ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Golden Grizzlies took care of business and hit the century mark for the first time since Jan. 24, 2022, as Oakland took down Milwaukee, 100-95, tonight inside the OU Credit Union O'rena

The Golden Grizzlies (8-8, 3-2 HL) saw Trey Townsend go 8-of-18 (.444) from the floor and set a season-high 28 points as he brought down eight boards. Isaiah Jones tied Townsend with a team-high eight boards as he finished with six points. In total, five Oakland players recorded double-digit points as Blake Lampman (19), Rocket Watts (14), Chris Conway (12) and Jack Gohlke (10) and Townsend were in double figures.

The Panthers got on the board with a quick two before Townsend drew the foul and made one from the line. Milwaukee rang off two more points but Lampman picked up where he left off and drilled a three to tie things up at four apiece. The Panthers, however, scored five-straight to take the early lead.

Townsend came up strong and muscled his way for an and-one and finished the three-point play, but the Panthers had an answer as it came down the floor and hit from range. Townsend continued early and added another two to account for six of the first nine points for the Golden Grizzlies. The ensuing possession, Tone Hunter snuck around the Panthers and stole the ball before he added two on the fastbreak.

After a Milwaukee timeout, the Golden Grizzlies continued to push as Townsend slammed one home to cap off a 10-0 run to put his team in the lead, 17-11. The Panthers cut its deficit to two points, but good ball movement turned into good offense for Oakland as it took another six-point lead near the midway point.

The Panthers would tack on a handful of points before the Golden Grizzlies got back on the board as Townsend recorded his 10th point with just over five minutes to go. Gohlke got on the board as he drilled one from range as the graduate transfer continued his streak of at least one three-pointer in every game this season. Townsend continued his tear down the stretch as he added a few more towards his total to end the first 20 with 17 points and help give the Golden Grizzlies the lead heading into the locker room, 40-35.

Both teams were nearly equal from the field, as the Golden Grizzlies held a slight edge and shot 15-of-33 (.450) from the floor with the Panthers 14-of-34 (.410). The difference maker in the first 20 was makes from downtown as Oakland held Milwaukee to none from range as the Golden Grizzlies tallied three. With 19 rebounds compared to 16, Oakland held the edge as Townsend had a team-high five boards. Keeping with Townsend, he was the only player in the first half in double figures with his 17 (6-of-12 FG).

Milwaukee put a halt to the run, but the Golden Grizzlies didn't stop as DQ Cole added a three to extend the teams lead to 59-50 with 13:21 to play. A technical and flagrant put both teams at the line for two as Oakland held on to its lead near the midway mark.

A deep step-back three from Gohlke was followed up by an offensive board and fadeaway from Watts to put the Golden Grizzlies up by eight. A free throw on the Panthers end cut it to a seven-point game, but one from beyond the arc from Lampman gave the Golden Grizzlies a double-digit lead with 8:57 to play. Milwaukee answered with a three of its own, followed by a free throw and a two to make it a four-point game.

The game came down to the wire as the Golden Grizzlies held a narrow lead of two, but Lampman answered and pushed the team's lead to five with one from deep. The Panthers had an answer as the team made it hard for Oakland to try and pull away. The Golden Grizzlies got a stop as Townsend made one to get to 28 points on the night with under five minutes to go.

Both teams battled back-and-forth as Oakland held on to the lead but, like the whole game, the Panthers continued to push back and made the score 90-85 in favor of Oakland with 2:41 to play. The Golden Grizzlies made it a six-point game, but back-to-back layups from the Panthers made it a two-point game.

The Panthers had to resort to fouls as Watts converted on his two to make it a four-point game with :20 seconds to go, but the Panthers came down the floor and rang off a three. A one-point game with :17 seconds to go, Watts controlled the ball and was fouled once again and made his two crucial free throws.
