SAGINAW & YPSILANTI, Mich. - It was a successful weekend for the Golden Grizzlies with many new personal bests and great finishes as the men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up a weekend of events on the east side of Michigan.

It was a successful day in Saginaw, Mich., as the Golden Grizzlies saw four runners place first in their event, while nine in total set new personal bests on the day. Along with personal bests, 10 members of the team placed in the top three amongst the nine events.

Most notably, Oakland dominated the Women 1 Mile race as first through fifth place were all Golden Grizzlies, as
Hannah Fisher neared the five minute mark with a personal best of 5:03.48.
Makenna Scott followed in third with a new record of 5:06.94, followed by
Erin Hegarty with a time of 5:09.15, good for fourth, and
Jennifer Ohlsson who crossed the finish line fifth with a personal best of 5:09.71. Also in the race,
Haileigh Bissett added a new best with a final time of 5:29.44.

To keep with the mile,
Wesley Hollowell set a new best time in the Men 1 Mile race as he crossed the line in 4:14.51. Also on the men's side, but a shorter race, was
Terrence Brooks Jr. who led all runners in the Men 400m and placed first with a final time of 49.44, with
Justice Stewart right behind in second just 0.27 seconds behind.

In the 400m for the women,
Grace Hungerford dashed to the finish line with a time of 57.77 for a new best of her own, while
Shirelle Linzy finished the Women 60m in second with a new personal record of 7.96.

To wrap up Friday's event,
Kylei Anderson, on the field, jumped 1.58m in the Women High Jump to place second in the event.

In Ypsilanti, the Golden Grizzlies saw 12 new personal bests, categorized as four on the men's side and eight for the women, with three of the 12 in field events.

Not even 24 hours after he set a personal best in the 400m race, Brooks Jr. broke his record from the day before with a time of 49.26, 0.18 second faster than at SVSU. Along with Brooks Jr., the men's team saw both
Carter McCalister and Hollowell set new records for their personal stat sheet in the Men's 3000m race, as McCalister crossed the line in 8:24.44, good for second, while Hollowell was right behind in third with a time of 8:26.27.

On the field,
Alex Mansfield placed second in the Men's Shot Put and set a new best with a distance of 16.00m. Also on the field, this time in the weight throw event on the women's side,
Elizabeth Rice added a new best to her career with a distance of 13.04m.

Just like the day previous, the women had a great showing around the oval, as
Kylie Anderson raced to the finish in the Women's 60m Hurdles and set a new best with a time of 8.91. The team also showed out in the Women's 800m race as both
Abby Jackson, who finished third, and
Grace Hungerford finished the day with a new best with 2:13.86 and 2:23.68, respectively. Additionally,
Ke'Vine Finch placed second in the Women's 200m race with a final time of 25.34.

The best event of the day went to the Women's 3000m race as four different Golden Grizzlies raced to the finish to set new records for themselves. After Hegarty placed first in the race, Ohlsson followed in third with a time of 9:59.65 as Scott was right behind in fourth with a new best of 10:08.38.
Genavieve Kushner Lopez crossed the line with a final time of 10:32.46, while
Anne May set a new best of 11:19.48.

Both teams are back in action next weekend for the IUPUI Invite (Jan. 26-27), with Friday set to start at 4:00 p.m. ET and Saturday at 11:00 a.m. ET.
