ROCHESTER, Mich. - It was another successful week for Oakland Athletics, both on the court and in the pool, as the men's and women's swim & dive team finished first against Xavier, behind the help of women's swimmer
Sam Thiessen, while the men's and women's basketball team went a combined 3-1, as
DQ Cole from men's basketball led the way, to earn both OU Prairie Farms Athletes of the Week.

Sam Thiessen, the junior out of Winnipeg, Manitoba (Canada), finished the weekend with two more first place finishes under her belt and now sits t-2nd amongst the women for most individual event wins in the 2023-24 season. In the 50 Free, Thiessen raced to the finish in 23.36 seconds, good for first, and was 0.39 faster than the second place finisher. To match her 50 Free result, Thiessen placed first in the 100 Free race with a time of 51.57 seconds, just 0.16 seconds faster than the number two.

On the court, Cole led the Golden Grizzlies on the week with 36 total points in two games, good for 18.0 points per game. Cole was crucial in the Golden Grizzlies 70-65 overtime win over Northern Kentucky with three key threes (3-of-9 3FG). Cole also led the team with 16 boards (8.0 RPG) and totaled four assists, one block and two steals on the week. The junior shot 13-of-25 (.520) from the floor and led the team with 19 points (7-of-13 FG) in an 88-66 win over IUPUI. He also tied a career high in rebounds in the win over the Jaguars with eight.
