Box Score ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Oakland women's soccer team fell to Western Michigan, 3-0 Thursday night from the Oakland Soccer Field.
The Golden Grizzlies (1-4-2) battled with the Broncos (4-1) in a physical first half as they entered halftime deadlock at 0-0.
Western Michigan held the advantage in shots, 22-1 over Oakland with 11 of the 22 being on goal, as the Golden Grizzlies struggled offensively to get things going.
After holding the Broncos scoreless in the first 45 minutes, WMU added its first goal in the 53
rd minute, with the second coming just five minutes later to take a 2-0 lead. The Broncos added one more goal at 83:37 to finalize the 3-0 win.
Despite allowing three goals, freshman keeper
Julia Zangerl tallied eight saves on the night, five coming in the second half.
Shannon Brown recorded Oakland's lone shot on the night.
Oakland looks to bounce back Sunday as the Golden Grizzlies travel to Toledo in the non-conference finale to take on the Rockets at 1 p.m. from Paul Hotmer Field.
