ROCHESTER, Mich. – In a morning ESPN+ game at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 4, Oakland University Men's Soccer stays in the windy city for a showdown with Loyola University Chicago at the Ramblers' Loyola Soccer Park.

Oakland (0-2-1) tied with then-undefeated University of Illinois-Chicago Flames in the windy city on Friday night where Luke Benford and Donovan Phillip got in on the scoring action in the 2-2 game.

Phillip sits atop the team's leaderboard with three points with his goal on Friday night plus an assist while Benford is just behind with two off his single goal. Andrew Darakdjian has unleashed six attempts on opposing goalkeepers.

Finn Jurak made his 2023 debut in goal for Oakland on Friday night while Alex Flowers has seen two starts with 17 saves in 47 shots faced. Michael Sly Jr. has seen 21 minutes of action with one save in four shots he's seen.

The Golden Grizzlies will open #HLMSOC play with Cleveland State University in Cleveland on Saturday, September 9 for its next contest.

SCOUTING THE RAMBLERS

The Ramblers (1-0-1) tied #HLMSOC opponent Cleveland State in Ohio on Friday night 2-2 which was a comeback tie where the host Vikings held a 2-0 advantage until the 68' minute mark while Markus Maurer notched the tying goal with 12 seconds left in regulation.

Maurer leads the team with two goals to his credit off seven shots while Benni Hoffman and Marc Torrellas have each tallied a goal apiece. Aiden Crawford has two starts between the posts in Chicago, making three saves in seven shots faced.

Loyola Chicago and UIC will meet on September 8 for the Hampton Inn Chicago Classic on the campus of Loyola Chicago.
