ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Oakland women's soccer team continues its Ohio road swing Saturday at Wright State at 1 p.m. from Alumni Field at Rinzler Student Sports Complex.
The Golden Grizzlies (3-4-4, 1-0-2 HL) are coming off a 1-0 win at Cleveland State where
Allie Tefend netted her first goal as a Golden Grizzly in the 89th minute to secure Oakland's first conference win of the season.
Goalkeeper
Julia Zangerl tallied four saves on the day, three coming in the second half including a huge save with less than a minute remaining protect Oakland's lead.
Macey Wierenga has paced the Oakland offense this season tallying a team-best three goals. The graduate student and Caledonia, Mich. native has also added an assist on the year.
Frankie Mudd has added two goals of her own on the year while
Anuhea Aluli,
Jayna Fraser, Tefend and
Melaina Troy round out the goal scorers for Oakland with one apiece.
SCOUTING THE RAIDERS
The all-time series leans in Oakland's favor, 7-4-1, including wins in the last three meetings. In the last Oakland recorded an impressive 19 shots, en route to a 3-1 win over the Raiders.
Jules Karkaba netted the Golden Grizzlies' final goal of the game.
Wright State (4-4-2, 2-1 HL) heads into Saturday coming off a 4-2 loss at Robert Morris but won its three previous games before falling to the Colonials.
The Raiders boast seven goal scorers on the year including Lauren Borchert, Kaylin Helinski, and Marcella Sizer each with two.
