Golden Grizzlies complete two-match homestand by welcoming in Michigan Tuesday

ROCHESTER, Mich. - Wrapping up their first homestand of the 2023 season, the Golden Grizzlies will welcome the Michigan Wolverines to the Oakland Soccer Field at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19 on ESPN+ ($).

Falling to the Northern Kentucky Norse in their Horizon League opener on September 16, the Golden Grizzlies will enter Tuesday at 1-4-1, while Michigan, who belongs to the Big Ten Conference (B1G), is 1-2-3 and played the Maryland Terrapins to a 2-2 draw in College Park in their most recent action on September 14.

Tuesday will also hold special significance for Oakland as it will mark the return of longtime head coach Eric Pogue, who missed the first six matches of the season while on a personal leave.

Paul Doroh, who was the acting head coach while Pogue was away, will return to being the associate head coach.

Team captain and graduate student Mikey Ketteman and freshman Donavan Phillip are tied for the team lead with four points apiece this year for the Golden Grizzlies, with redshirt senior Owen Smith right behind them at three.

Senior Alex Flowers and graduate student Finn Jurak have split Oakland's goalkeeping duties, with each starting a trio of matches thus far.

SCOUTING THE WOLVERINES
Tying a season-high with two goals in their draw with the Terrapins and led by 12th-year head coach Chaka Daley, Michigan is paced offensively by senior Bryce Blevins and junior Michael Leon, both of whom have tallied five points.

McLean, Virginia junior Hayden Evans has started five of the Wolverines' matches in goal, owning 10 saves, one shutout and a 1.56 goals against average to his credit this year.
