ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Oakland women's soccer team welcomes Purdue Fort Wayne to the Oakland Soccer Field for the Horizon League opener on Sunday, Sept. 17 at 1 p.m. as the Golden Grizzlies celebrate Alumni Day.

Oakland (2-4-2) is coming off a thrilling 2-1 win over Toledo where
Jayna Fraser recorded the game winning goal with just 85:49 left on the clock off an assist from
Olivia Darnell.
After a scoreless first half, Toledo's Rylee Michaels was issued a red card prompting a penalty kick for
Macey Wierenga less than seven minutes into the second half. The Caledonia, Mich. native was able to convert to give Oakland a 1-0 lead early in the second half. The goal came at 51:36, marking the second goal of the season for Wierenga.
Sophomore Shannon Brown tallied a game-high four shots, three on goal. Oakland tallied 14 shots on the day, 10 coming in the second half.
Sunday's match marks the first conference game of the year for Oakland, while Purdue Fort Wayne (4-3-2) faced off against Robert Morris on Thursday. The Golden Grizzlies haven't lost a Horizon League opener since the 2018 season, falling to Wright State 1-0.
The all-time series between the two squads sways in Oakland's favor, (8-2-1) including wins in the first five meetings.
SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
Purdue Fort Wayne enters Sunday match with only one loss in its last six games. The Mastodons opened conference play with a 2-0 win over the Colonials, handing Robert Morris its first loss of the season.
The Mastodons have won just one game on the road, a 1-0 win at Southern Indiana.
PFW has allowed just seven goals all season, tied for second-best among Horizon League foes. Five of seven games the Mastodons have held their opponent scoreless.
