JAYNA FRASER’S GAME WINNER LEADS OAKLAND PAST TOLEDO IN NON-CONFERENCE FINALE

Fraser's goal came at the 85:49 mark with the assist from Olivia Darnell.

TOLEDO, Ohio – Jayna Fraser recorded the game-winning goal to guide the Oakland women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over Toledo Sunday afternoon from Paul Hotmer Field snapping the Rockets two-game win streak.
 
With just 85:49 on the clock, Fraser found the back of the net with an assist from Olivia Darnell to give Oakland the 2-1 advantage. The goal was Fraser's first of the season, with Darnell's assist being the first of the freshman's collegiate career.  Oakland (2-4-2) and Toledo entered halftime scoreless with the Golden Grizzlies outshooting the Rockets 4-3 in the first 45 minutes.

Less than seven minutes into the second half Toledo's Rylee Michaels was issued a red card prompting a penalty kick for Macey Wierenga. The Caledonia, Mich. native was able to convert to give Oakland a 1-0 lead early in the second half. The goal came at 51:36, marking the second goal of the season for Wierenga.
 
The Rockets (2-3-1) answered with a goal of their own less than five minutes after the Golden Grizzlies got on the board to equal things out at 1-1.
 
Oakland tallied 14 shots on the day, 10 coming in the second half. Shannon Brown tallied a game-high four shots, three on goal.
 
Fraser had two shots on goal, one being the game-winner with less than five minutes remaining in the game giving Oakland its second-straight victory over Toledo.
 
The Golden Grizzlies return home to the Oakland Soccer Field to open Horizon League play Sunday, Sept. 17 at 1 p.m. against Purdue Fort Wayne. Sunday's match will be broadcast on ESPN+.
