Oakland Ties with Undefeated Flames

CHICAGO, Ill. – On Friday night, Oakland University Men's Soccer finished a hotly-contested game with the undefeated University of Illinois-Chicago 2-2 in the prairie state. 

The Flames (3-0-1) wasted no time in scoring with a goal two minutes into the game, forcing Oakland's (0-3-1) Luke Benford's right foot to make a play into the bottom right of the net for the tying goal.

Heading into halftime tied, Donovan Phillip made his first goal of the 2023 season 45 seconds out of the break as the Golden Grizzlies held its first lead over any team of this year's campaign.

With 16 and a half minutes remaining in the game, UIC scored the equalizer where the scoreboard held for the remaining time for the tie.
