YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – On Sunday, Oakland University Men's and Women's Track & Field teams finished third in both sides of the 2023 #HLTF Championships in Youngstown, Ohio with multiple individual victories coming back to Rochester.
Kalli Knoble and Emily Schaub finished six-seven in the Women's High Jump event on Sunday morning with marks of 1.60m, respectively. Simara Miller finished the Women's Triple Jump with a length of 11.38m as the freshman took seventh in her first outdoor meet.
In the Men's High Jump, Salvatore Narusch and Pierce Doyle rounded out scoring in the event with their marks of 1.94m for seventh and eighth, respectively.
With the Women's 4x100m Relay taking the oval, the team of Shaneese LaMons, Makiya Worthy, Samari Finney, and Azsah Bradley took home second in 46.09 seconds for eight points to the Golden Grizzlies' total.
Ashley Quinn and Hannah Fisher took first and second in the Women's 1500m race with times of 4:37.78 and 4:38.37, respectively. In the men's race, Adam Hill took seventh overall for two points.
Naomi Hallman finished sixth in the Women's 100m Hurdles while Nathaneal Wilson finished runner-up in the Men's 110m Hurdles with Jake Kaupp in tow with an eighth-place performance.
The duo of Worthy and Finney toppled first and second in the Women's 400m dash with the former of the two breaking her own school record from the day prior in 54.67 and 55.58 seconds, respectively.
Blake Foster will complete the day with a top-three finish in the Men's Weight Throw with a heave of 51.62m for third ahead of his teammate, Romario Jackson, in sixth with 49.19m.
Bradley would cross the line in fourth in the Women's 100m dash with a time of 11.86 seconds while Worthy took sixth in the Women's 200m for a half-lap time of 24.39 seconds.
Quinn took runner-up in the Women's 800m finals for 2:13.46 while Fisher picked up points in sixth at 2:19.73. Eddie Harrell III edged out second place by 0.2 seconds for the win in the Men's 800m in 1:54.36. Josh Cundy finished third in the same race in 1:55.64.
The Women's and Men's 400m Hurdles featured a victory and a runner-up performance as Payton Sabourin won her event by .01 seconds in 1:00.28 as Gabe Singh finished second in 52.13 seconds.
Julian Bailey and Amarion Howard took sixth and seventh place in the Men's 200m final with 22.0 and 22.18 second times as the single sprint races wrapped up on Sunday.
The 12-and-a-half lap Women's 5,000m race took the track in Youngstown where Grace Nolan was runner-up in 17:27.89 with her teammate Erin Hegarty fifth in a 17:31.79 result.
The final, and arguably the most intense, event took the red rubber in the 4x400m Relays where the women's squad of Worthy, Finney, Bradley, and Sabourin finished the meet with a win in a combined time of 3:48.07.
Then the men's team of Singh, Howard, Harrell, and Justin Kudera followed it up with a 3:15.21 victory for ten points as the meet concluded.
Both squads finished third in the team race with 115 and 136 points on the men's and women's sides, respectively, while the host, Youngstown State, took both wins with Milwaukee just behind in second.
The Golden Grizzlies will host the Oakland Last Chance meet on Thursday, May 11 on the Oakland Track & Field as individuals will look to make one last mark on the NCAA Preliminaries.
