Oakland Run-Rules Cleveland State in Crucial Series Finisher

ROCHESTER, Mich. – After a wet, rainy afternoon at the Oakland Softball Field, Oakland University Softball ran up a 8-0 run-rule win over Cleveland State University in the rubber match of a three-game #HLSB series on Friday.

A sacrifice bunt from Allisa DiPrima pushed Maci Brown over to second base after her walk, scoring in the top of the first via Jen Krizka's single to center field for the early 1-0 lead.

In the very next inning, Leah Bieniewicz took a long at-bat into a solo home run over the center field wall, her second of the season, to establish a big scoring inning for OU in the top of the second.

Mia Konyvka and Kamryn Troyer were already on base with a walk and a single down the left field line when a wild pitch advanced both of them from the new Cleveland State pitcher. Brown's RBI double to right field brought those two home, giving Oakland a 4-0 advantage after two.

The bottom of the fourth had three additional runs cross for the Golden Grizzlies as Reese Ruhlman tripled to left field bringing a bases-loaded diamond of Krizka, DiPrima, and Brown off two-straight singles and a walk.

With the game 7-0 after four, Cleveland State was facing a single run away from a #HLSB run-rule loss. Leadoff hitter Jenna Johnston singled to left field though was tagged out from Konyvka's fielder's choice who advanced over to third from Troyer's double to left field.

Makayla Jauregui was brought in as a pinch runner at third base, immediately tagging home from Brown's sacrifice fly to center field.
