ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Oakland Swim and Dive team completed day one of the CSCAA NIC competition in Elkhart, Indiana with an impressive third-place ranking out of 51 teams from the men with 158.50 points, and the women in 19th with 51 points, respectively.
Right out of the gate, the men's 200-relay A team did what they do best and secured second place behind the speed of Christian Bart, Micah Scheffer, Harry Nicholson, and Charlie Brown in a time of (1:19.64). The women's A relay team jumped into the 200-relay with an energetic 11th-place finish with Mia Keranen, Sam Thiessen, Sohvi Nenonen, and Ronja Riihinen with a time of (1:33.14).
Marko Khotynetskyi punched his incredible second-place win in the men's 50-yard backstroke with a time of (21.93), and notably, teammate Harry Nicholson finished in 13th at (22.48). And continuing later on with the 50-yard butterfly, Golden Grizzly Sofus Balladone placed 19th with a time of (21.90).Â
Jonas Cantrell swam an impressive run in the men's 500-yard freestyle clinching a 11th place finish with a time of (4:27.25).
Jordyn Shipps put in the work during the women's 200-yard IM and placed 15th with a time of (2:02.25), right ahead of Nenonen who placed 19th with a time of (2:03.15).Â
Following, was Bart who did not disappoint in the lanes with his well-earned first-place finish in the men's 50-yard breaststroke shattering the meet record in a time of (23.98). Additionally, Christopher Palvadre placed 13th with a time of (24.92).
Brown returned to the pool to finish out the men's 50-yard freestyle with a 12th-place time of (20.49), and Nicholson with a 16th-place finish (20.46).
To top things off the men's 400-yard medley relay team blew it out of the water with their second-place performance time of (3:10.79) because of the efforts of Khotynetskyi, Bart, Balladone, and Sam McKenzie.Â
Notably, the women's 400-yard medley relay team with Shipps, Bella Gary, Keranen, and Thiessen finished 28th with a time of (3:46.03).
The Golden Grizzlies will return back to the pool tomorrow morning to resume day two of competition in Indiana.Â
