ROCHESTER, Mich. -
Christian Bart has been selected to receive the Academic All-America honors by the committee of college sports communicators on Tuesday, March 21st following his performances for the 2022-23 season, along with his work in the classroom.
This marks the first year that Bart has been named to the Academic All-America team since his time here as a Golden Grizzly. Not only does Bart hold a staggering 4.0 GPA in public administration during his fifth year at Oakland, but also his contributions to the team this year have been exceeding impressive from his regular season performances all the way to conference championships in Indianapolis.
The Grand Rapids native was a key part of Oakland's well-known relay teams dominating meets throughout the season, and ultimately punching the Horizon League Champion ticket for the 10th year in a row for the program. His dedication and consistency to the team fueled him to continue setting records from the men's 400-yard medley relay, to a large number of exhilarating records at conference championships both individually and as a group.
Quote from Head Coach Pete Hovland: "Everyone involved with our S&D program is so proud of Christian and his journey to get to this point. He was given an opportunity five years ago that not many people get and through his hard work and determination, he hit a grand slam! He has worked extremely hard both in the pool and the classroom to position himself for this tremendous honor. I can't think of anyone else more deserving."
Bart will always be known for his legacy, leadership, and standard of excellence that he wove into the program during his years at Oakland.
