Susan LaGrand Off To NCAA Championships For The Third Consecutive Year

ROCHESTER, Mich. - Susan LaGrand will be representing Oakland in the NCAA Championships for the third consecutive year in a row at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center in Knoxville, Tennessee from March 15th through the 18th.

The Grand Rapids native has qualified to compete in the 200-yard IM on Thursday, 100-yard backstroke on Friday, and the 200-yard backstroke on Saturday to conclude the event. LaGrands recorded a remarkable year this year holding several school records in the 200-yard IM and the 200-yard backstroke during the regular season, as well as dominating more records into the Horizon League Championships playing a critical role in and helping the team secure conference champions for the 10th consecutive year in a row. Not only this, but laGrand has held the fastest mid-major time in the 100-yard IM this season continuing to raise the bar for swimmers across the nation.

The Horizon League has named Susan swimmer of the week for three separate times this 2022-23 season following her profound impact and performances for the Golden Grizzlies throughout the regular season. Additionally, she was named the Horizon League Co-Swimmer of the Meet at conference championships.

Being that this is Susan's fifth year at Oakland, this will be the last NCAA Championships that both Susan and Pete will have the opportunity to attend, making it an extremely memorable and exciting event for Oakland Swim and Dive history.
