Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | David Gibson

Moore Nets a Career-High 37 in Metro Series Loss

ROCHESTER, Mich.Jalen Moore of Oakland University Men's Basketball posted a career-high 37 points on Friday night's 96-74 loss in the Metro Series to Detroit Mercy at the Athletics Center O'rena.

Blake Lampman kicked off the game with a top-of-the-arc triple to his credit, setting the home crowd ablaze with a 3-0 lead as the Titans responded right back. Trey Townsend's jumper was the last bucket the Golden Grizzlies saw in a while as UDM spouted off an 11-0 run that lasted almost two minutes to 14:03.

Lampman once again took matters into the Haslett native's hands as he and Moore drained back-to-back triples to start reeling in the Detroit Mercy lead down to 18-16 with 11:56 to go.

The game would morph into a contest of who can string together the longest point streak as the Titans edged the Golden Grizzlies, the visitors seemingly able to answer every bucket with two to four more.

Moore's teasing layup that had the ball circle the rim with less than a second on the clock had Oakland down by 13 as both teams headed into halftime at 47-34 in favor of UDM. The Titans shot 69.2% (9-13) from deep through Antoine Davis and Moore posted 16 points to lead all team scorers.

Keaton Hervey did spearhead the offensive board effort as Oakland received five rebounds on that end with the Titans winning that category at the half as well with 16 to OU's 11.

Chris Conway would bag Oakland's first points of the second half almost three minutes in with the Titans scoring five in that span.

A 16-point lead by Detroit Mercy with 13:59 remaining in regulation would continue to swell. Oakland could not score for more than four minutes as Osei Price's triple broke the drought at the 9:18 mark though the Golden Grizzlies were still down 73-50 after Townsend's basket.

Detroit Mercy stayed a consistent 14-18 points ahead down the stretch of the second half as a battle between two point guards emerged on The Blacktop. Moore kicked on a career-high 37 points to lead all scorers as Davis, the second all-time leading scorer in NCAA Division I history, posted 30.

The final buzzer sounded off at the O'rena on Friday night in a 96-74 loss as the Titans took just the second win in the last 14 meetings from the Golden Grizzlies.
