Indianapolis, IN. - Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper
Michael Sly Jr. has once again been named The Defensive Player of the Week by the Horizon League!
Oakland goalkeeper's have been on a roll this season. Sly Jr, wins the award for the second time this season, joining fellow Oakland goalkeeper
Finn Jurak as two of the three players to win the award more than once this season.
In fact, the Oakland goalkeepers become the only pair of teammates to win the award in back-to-back weeks with Jurak being honored with the award last week.
Sly Jr. won the weekly award based on a game-saving performance against Robert Morris on Saturday, Oct. 21. Sly Jr. gloved a season-high nine saves in the match, facing a constant barrage of Robert Morris attempts as they took 17 shots throughout the contest, 13 in the first half alone. Sly Jr. made several incredible diving saves to keep Oakland afloat and Robert Morris scoreless, leading to an eventual Oakland 1-0 victory.
Oakland's star-studded goalkeepers look to keep holding it down in the goal as Oakland travels to Wisconsin to take on Green Bay on Saturday, Oct. 28 in their final road game of the season.
