Oakland Wins Eighth-Straight In Calihan Hall, 12 of the Last 13 Meetings

DETROIT, Mich. – Oakland University Men's Basketball has now won eight in a row in Calihan Hall thanks to a 76-67 win over rival Detroit Mercy on Monday night, breaking the longest winning streak record over UDM on their home court.

A steal and slam by Trey Townsend opened things up for Oakland (9-12, 7-3 #HLMBB) as the home Titans (8-13, 4-6 #HLMBB) spouted off four straight as the first media timeout approached where the Golden Grizzlies would stare at a six-point deficit.

A layup by the Oxford native knotted things up at 10-10 with 12:02 to go where the Golden Grizzlies would never look back. A single free throw by Keaton Hervey kicked off a scoring spree that spanned five and a half minutes where Oakland bagged a 16-2 run with deep shots by Osei Price and Rocket Watts were balanced out by Jalen Moore's in-the-paint points and a Chris Conway set of free throws.

From the 4:25 point, Moore scored every single Golden Grizzly point heading into the half as Oakland would look up at the scoreboard in Calihan Hall with a lead that swelled to as large as 18 points with 58 seconds remaining.

That margin shrank slightly to 13 as the Titans' Antoine Davis drilled a deep ball and a pair of free throws as the first 20 minutes expired in Detroit.

The Titans opened up the second half with a three-pointer to bring the lead in at 10 38-28 where the Golden Grizzlies were asked to answer right back with Hervey's jumper. Moore's efforts kept the home white jerseys at bay for the most part until the 9:12 mark.

A four-point lead is all that remained from the first half as Moore rattled off five points, bookended by one of Rocket Watt's many three-pointers from the game as time continued to tick in the Metro Series.

The lead inflated back to ten behind on of Moore's charity stripe tripes to where the senior would go 14-16 to finish off the surging Titans in Calihan Hall.

Oakland would finish the night winners of 12 of the 13 meetings with the rival as time expired for the 76-67 win.

Eight games is the longest winning streak in Calihan Hall history. Marquette held the record at seven before Oakland broke it on Monday night. The Golden Grizzlies have not lost on Detroit Mercy's campus since January 10, 2015.
