Extra Inning Softball Ranks Campbell in Extra Elite Top 100

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Oakland University Softball redshirt junior pitcher Sydney Campbell was named to the Extra Elite 100 as the No. 92 best player in the nation according to Extra Innings Softball.

The reigning #HLSB Pitcher of the Year and First Team All-Horizon League honoree finished the 2022 season with a 2.23 earned run average (ERA) along with the most wins in the conference at 23 as the Golden Grizzlies took the regular season and league tournament title to appear in the NCAA Division I Softball Tournament for the first time since 2017.

The LaGrange, Ohio native also ranked third in batters struck out at 165, second in batters struck out looking with 53, and first in innings pitched (219.1) in the Horizon League.

Campbell has the sixth and eighth-best ERA marks in the program's history following a 2021 season that saw a 1.94 ERA while her 23 wins are the most in school history. In 2022, Campbell's seven shutouts tied for the most in the program's record book. Multiple other accolades see Campbell's name sprinkled throughout such as saves, strikeouts, innings pitched, and others.

The only Horizon League player to be listed, Campbell is also the 26th-best pitcher according to Extra Innings out of a total of 28 that appear in the top 100. Campbell is the 15th-best mid-major player listed.
