Oakland Spares No Goals to Spartans in East Lansing

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Oakland University battled it out with Michigan State in an intense back and forth game ending in a scoreless result of 0-0 Thursday night in East Lansing.

The Golden Grizzlies offense made multiple shot attempts during the course of the game to keep the Spartan goalkeepers on their toes. Sydney Grodsinsky quickly attacked the net around 13:45 just missing the net for the Golden Grizzlies. Alexa Sabbagh would soon get a chance to score at the 2:30 mark of the second half, however she just skimmed the outside of the goal post. Overall, Golden Grizzlies constantly attacked the net in both the first and second half.

Noëmi Stadelmann started off in the net for Oakland in the first half with Hayley Lindow coming in to defend the net around the 23:00 minute mark of the second half. Lindow steps in for a save near the end frame of the game to keep the Spartans from getting on the board. Notably, the Oakland defense makes a number of sacrificial saves this afternoon first with Sophie Wilsey, making an impressive move as she deflects a shot with a header and then again with a save from Sami Lopez as she steps in the net for an impressive body save within the 10:00 minute mark at the end of the second half.

Inside The Numbers:
  • Oakland recorded a save from goalkeeper Lindow
  • Sophie Wilsey makes impressive headbut to deflect a Spartan shot
  • Sami Lopez takes away a shot from inside the goal from Michigan State
  • Oakland defense stay on top of Spartans to keep them from scoring

The Golden Grizzlies will take on Western Michigan on Sunday, September 11 at 4:00 pm in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
