Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Jordyn Berg

Oakland Falls to Purdue Fort Wayne

ROCHESTER, Mich - The Oakland Women's Soccer Team ends the night in a 2-1 loss to Purdue Fort Wayne, moving to 3-2-6 on the year.

The team started the game off strong defensively by holding the Mastadons to a scoreless first half. Momentum quickly picked up near the end of the second half where there were back and forth goals between the two teams. We continued to see multiple shot attempts from Oakland players and the top three from the game were Jayna Fraser with three attempts, Macey Wierenga and Sami Lopez with two attempts. Not only this but there was an impressive seven other Golden Grizzly players with shot attempt(s) on the field tonight.

Oakland reacted fairly quickly after the Mastadons scored in the second half. Izzy Karkaba sneaked one into the net with an assist from Macey Wierenga for the Golden Grizzlies at just under the 75 minute mark putting them on the board. However, this wasn't enough to take the win for the game because soon after that, the Mastadons scored yet another goal putting them just one goal ahead of the Golden Grizzlies.

Goalkeeper Noemi Stadelmann guarded the net for the full 90 minutes of the game today. She only allowed two goals against the Mastodons and her new save percentage for the season is 83.3%.
