Oakland Harriers Post Strong Outing at Mike Baumer XC Classic

DAYTON, Ohio – Oakland University Men's and Women's Cross Country wrapped up the first meet of the season at the Mike Baumer XC Classic at Fairborn Park hosted by Wright State with second and third-place finishes.

Grace Nolan was the team's top women's finisher with a time of 18:05.1 through the 5,000 kilometer course for eighth out of the 141 harrier field. The Golden Grizzlies would get three-straight across the line next in Ellie Voetberg, Makenna Scott, and Maryam Sheena in 13th, 14th, and 15th, respectively. Rounding out the scorers for Oakland was Rachel Kempf in 31st.

Yami Albrecht would lead the way in the men's race for Oakland with a fifth-place finish out of 178 runners, clocking in a 5K time of 15:12.9 Adam Hill would be next for OU in 11th in 15:19.5 while teammates Josiah Magley and Adam Jesse would finish 23rd and 27th with times of 15:30.1 and 15:33.1, respectively. Finally, Oakland's fifth finisher was Trey Plichta in 32nd.

Ohio State swept each side of competition as the OU women's team would take second with 76 points, one ahead of Dayton in third-place with 77. The Golden Grizzlies' men's squad would finish fourth with 92 points just behind NCAA Division II Cedarville with 86.
