Oakland to Face Michigan on the Pitch

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Game number three out of four of the longest road-trip of the regular-season is on deck for Oakland Men's soccer as the Golden Grizzlies prepare to take on the Michigan Wolverines on Monday, September 19 at 7:00pm at the University of Michigan Soccer Stadium.

Oakland will aim to rebound from a close 1-2 loss in their previous match versus the Grand Canyon University Antelopes, who is one of the best non-conference programs listed on the 2022 slate for OU.

Sophomore forward Ahmad Hamad was one of many who stood out during their match against the Lopes in Phoenix. The 5-foot-10 Dearborn, Michigan native found himself with many scoring chances but was unable to capitalize.

Amongst others, Dawsun Schrum continues to orchestrate the offense for the black and gold this season. Just moments after a GCU goal, Schrum would play a critical role in the lone Golden Grizzlies goal of the night as he assisted fellow senior Ville Ahola in what was the Finland native's first goal of the regular-season.

The fans surely got their money's worth the last time these two teams met. August 29, 2021, the Wolverines traveled to Rochester and had an extended stay as the Golden Grizzlies took the maize and blue into two extra periods, eventually falling to Michigan 1-2.

This will be the 22nd matchup in the rich history between the in-state foes. Oakland has dropped the last three games versus the Wolverines with their last win coming in the 2017 regular-season.

SCOUTING REPORT

Michigan is currently 2-3-1 with their most recent win coming from fellow Horizon League member, Detroit Mercy. The Wolverines are predicted to finish fourth in the Big Ten polls once the season has concluded.

The maize and blue offense is led by Quin Rodgers, the San Jose, California native is the only Wolverine to notch both a goal and an assist in the 2022 regular-season.

Michigan will aim to be aggressive offensively as they have gotten off a total of 75 shots as a team this season.
