Oakland Adds Another Tie to Conference Record Against Green Bay

ROCHESTER, Mich - The Oakland Women's Soccer team adds a scoreless tie to their conference record against Green Bay. Putting their season record at 3-1-6 for the Golden Grizzlies.

The Golden Grizzlies fought a tough fight against the Phoenix and did not let them get any taste of the net. Macey Wierenga took two shots within 15 minutes of the first half eager to get on the board. The team quickly picked up this momentum and shot takers soon after were Alexa Sabbagh, Jayna Fraser, Sami Lopez, and Shannon Brown in the first half. Rounding out the second half of the game we saw shot attempts from Izzy Karkaba, Allie Tefend, and Sharon Sampson alongside some of the shot takers from the first half. Although the Golden Grizzlies were consistently attacking the net, they couldn't put the ball between the posts tonight.

Offensively, the Golden Grizzlies outshot the Phoenix 16-5 during the course of the game. Proving their motivation to get the ball moving and charge the net this afternoon.

Goalkeeper Noëmi Stadelmann was tested between the goal posts this afternoon with five shot attempts and one shot on goal. She did not allow any of them to pass through leaving the Phoenix goalless for the afternoon.

Inside the Numbers:
  • Oakland outshot the Phoenix (16-5) for the course of the game
  • Stadelmann recorded one save in the net
  • Oakland shot takers ranged from seven different players
  • Golden Grizzlies did not allow any goals from the Phoenix leaving them scoreless

The Oakland Women's Soccer team will return back home on Sunday, September 25th for the next conference matchup against Purdue Fort Wayne at 1:00 pm.
