Women's Soccer's Scoring Frenzy Lifts Golden Grizzlies Over Rockets

TOLEDO, Ohio. – On Thursday, Oakland University Women's Soccer defeated Toledo 4-1 to advance to 3-0-2 on the season after ninety minutes at Paul Hotmer Field.

It didn't take long for the celebrations to begin on Thursday as Macey Wierenga found the back of the net in the eighth minute of play from Oakland's second shot of the game. The Golden Grizzlies would continue to test the Rockets' goalkeeping two more subsequent boots before Alexa Sabbagh nailed her second goal of the year at the 29:00 mark to go up 2-0 into the break.

It would be Toledo to get an attempt off first in the second frame that would go high before Wierenga, Sami Lopez, and Wierenga again would practically get three-straight shots before Lopez would connect with Shannon Brown on the third goal of the day as the freshman would earn her paws.

At the 78:34 point, the Rockets would spark an attempt to climb back into the game with a goal of their own before Sharon Sampson would close the door on that attempt with the fourth goal of the afternoon where the score would hold at the end of ninety minutes.
