Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Golden Grizzlies Fall on the Road to Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. – On Sunday night, Oakland University Men's Soccer fell to Omaha at Caniglia Field 3-1 in non-conference action.

The home Mavericks would come out firing with four shots in the first seven or so minutes of play with nearly as many corner kicks to their credit. Owen Smith would be the one to break through, forcing the Omaha goalkeeper to receive their first save of the night.

At the 26:07 mark, Omaha would then put the first goal of the match up on the scoreboard, following it up just over four minutes later for a quick 2-0 lead where it would stay going into the halftime break following Ville Ahola's attempt, saved by the Mavericks' goalie.

Omaha would put up back-to-back shots off a slower start in the second half for both teams than the first but would ultimately find the back of the net at 68:22 where Oakland would take over on shots from then on.

Gabriel Baylon, Ahola, and Sebastian Nuzzo would all get a chance with their boot but it was Dawsun Schrum to register Oakland's first goal of the season with less than three minutes to go as the final horn would sound in Nebraska.
