Oakland Falls to Blue Demons at Home

ROCHESTER, Mich. The Vuvuzelas rang loud at the Oakland Soccer Field Thursday night as the Golden Grizzlies fell to Depaul 1-0 in the first home game of the 2022 regular season.

Both teams started the game aggressively as three Oakland fouls were called in the first five minutes of play. The offensive opportunities came in waves tonight for OU. Junior, Gabriel Baylon fired a shot towards the DePaul keeper in the 36 minute mark of the first half only for the shot to be blocked.

Immediately following Baylon's shot, Owen Smith would maintain possession for OU and rifle another shot towards the Blue Demons' keeper resulting in a save for DePaul.

Oakland got off a total of seven shots as a team tonight, three of which forced the DePaul keeper to make a stop.

Aggressive play and exciting offensive opportunities would continue into the second half. As time wound down and the sense of urgency increased, so would Oakland's shot total.

DePaul would draw first blood courtesy of Sam Moore as his shot would find the back of the Oakland net in the 76'.

A three-minute span late in the second half saw OU fire three shots at the Blue Demon's goalie. Firstly, a shot by Micah Sonnenberg was blocked and once again recovered by Smith. Smith would quickly shoot again, striking the right cross bar.

Just two minutes later, Finland native, Ville Ahola attempted a shot that would also strike the woodwork
