Men's Soccer to Wrap Up Omaha Road Trip Sunday

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Oakland will aim to bounce back in their second regular season game as the Golden Grizzlies are slated to take on the Omaha Mavericks Sunday, August 28 at 8:00pm at Caniglia Field.

In the infancy stages of the 2022 season, the preseason Horizon League favorites currently have two shots on net, one from 2021 All-Freshman team selection, Kai Garvey and one from Junior midfielder, Gabriel Baylon.

After just one game, Senior keeper, Finn Jurak sits atop the Horizon League standings in shots saved with seven.

SCOUTING REPORTS

Omaha welcomes Oakland in what is the second game of a six-game homestand to start the season for the Mavericks.

The Mavs dropped their opening game 2-4 to the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers. Omaha's offense is currently headed by forward Ede Gramberg and Sophomore defender Dominik Danis, each with one goal on the season.

TOURNAMENT TEAM RETURNS
Oakland is coming off a historic entry into the NCAA Tournament after winning both the regular season and tournament Horizon League titles, falling in the first round to Northern Illinois.

NO. 1 IN THE LEAGUE
Oakland was picked to finish first in the Horizon League in the annual #HLMSOC Preseason Coaches Poll.

COACH OF THE YEAR
Head Coach Eric Pogue was named Horizon League Coach of the Year in 2021 following a 10-6-2 overall record, 8-1-1 in conference play.

ALL-LEAGUE RETURNERS
The Golden Grizzlies reload in 2022 with four of the seven All-Horizon League honorees last season in Mikey Ketteman, Reid Sproat, Ville Ahola, and Kai Garvey.

NEWCOMER IMPACT
With plenty of new faces to go around, Oakland was introduced to fire power in the exhibition games in Charlie Retzler, Ahmad Hamad, Jace Foster, and Addrian Knights-Browne to name a few.
