Golden Grizzlies Stand Tall in Physical Exhibition Match

ROCHESTER, Mich. – On Saturday night at the Oakland Soccer Field, the Oakland Men's Soccer team bested Saginaw Valley State University in a physical exhibition contest 1-0.

After a scoreless first half, newcomer Ahmad Hamad of Dearborn, Michigan would earn his paws with a solo shot at the 45:21 mark to open the scoring for the 2022 season in this exhibition match as the ball would roll into the bottom left corner of the net.

In the first half, the Cardinals outshot Oakland 9-6 before the Golden Grizzlies took over in the second frame 11-5. With the shots intensifying, SVSU's goalkeeper was forced to get a hand on three of those second half shots.

Hamad finished the day with two shots in total to go with his first-ever goal in a Golden Grizzlies uniform. Reid Sproat, Charlie Retzer, Owen Smith, Zach Townsend, and Doug Hainer also took two shots apiece in the 17 team total.

Oakland hosts Ohio State in the final home exhibition game on Tuesday, August 16 at 7:00 p.m. at the Oakland Soccer Field.
