Karabo Dhlamini and the South African National Team qualified for the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup with a 2-1 win over host Morocco in the title match of the 2022 Women's Africa Cup of Nations.
"We are very happy and proud of Karabo. For such a young player to be participating at the highest level for her country and having the impact she had on contributing to South Africa's first ever Women's African Cup of Nations is such an accomplishment," said Head Coach
Juan Pablo Favero, "We are grateful that our program has been able to attract and recruit players of Karabo's caliber and will always celebrate these accomplishments with our players. We will be rooting for her in the next Women's World Cup and are eager to see her back in the black and gold."
Dhlamini started in four of the six games her national team played as the South African team clinched its first-ever WAFCON victory after going 3-0 in Group C with Burundi, Botswana, and the best-ranked national team by FIFA going into the event, Nigeria.
Prior to this point, South Africa held the record as reaching the finals the most without a win as they boasted 1-0 wins over Tunisia and Zambia in the quarterfinals and semifinals before defeating Morocco 2-1 in the championship.
With an assist on the winning goal to her credit in the final, Dhlamini and her team will compete in the 2023 Women's World Cup as Australia and New Zealand will both host 32 teams from six confederations.
