CLEVELAND, Ohio. – Oakland University Softball split Saturday's doubleheader with Cleveland State in Cleveland as the Golden Grizzlies would give up its first Horizon League series of the 2022 season.

GAME 1

After two batters went down swinging to start off the top of the first for Oakland, a fielding error by the Vikings' shortstop would allow Lauren Griffith to reach first base, setting up a Jen Krizka two RBI homer to take the early lead.

CSU would not have an answer in the bottom of the frame as a leadoff single by Jessie Munson would allow the redshirt senior to score off a bases-loaded walk to go up 3-0 after two as the Vikings would go three up and three down in the same stanza.

Things would remain status quo for both teams as the game would cruise along until the top of the sixth inning as Reese Ruhlman would single up the middle to bring Madison Jones up to the plate as she would smack a two RBI home run to left field off the first pitch for Oakland's 5-0 edge.

Cleveland State would get two runs off a single and a hit by pitch but would not be able to recover as the Golden Grizzlies would wrap up game one after Sydney Campbell struck out two batters.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

• Campbell advances to 14-6 on the year allowing three hits and posting six strikeouts
• Munson goes 2-4 from the plate while Jones goes 1-4 with two RBI and a home run to her credit 
• Oakland gets two home runs in a single game

GAME 2

Jones' singled up the middle off the first pitch in game two, advancing to second off a walk to Krizka as the redshirt senior would score off a wild pitch for Oakland's first, and only, run of the game.
An RBI single in the bottom of the second by CSU would tie things up at 1-1 before a RBI double in the third would give the Vikings a 2-1 advantage. The Golden Grizzlies would get struck out five times over the course of the next few innings as Oakland would be given two walks in the top of the seventh, but would leave both runners on as game two concluded off a groundout to third base.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

• Jones leads the team at 2-4 from the plate with a run
• Mia Konyvka's record falls to 3-4 on the year
