EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Oakland University Softball split day one of the Evansville Softball Invitational with a 6-0 shutout of Bowling Green State before dropping a 9-1 game in five innings with the host Purple Aces on Friday afternoon.
GAME ONE VS BOWLING GREEN
Sydney Campbell went the distance for Oakland, giving up two hits, walking none and striking out seven.
Cammie Brummitt led the way offensively for the Golden Grizzlies, going 1-for-4 in the ballgame with a home run and three RBIs. Jen Krizka compiled a standout day at the dish as well, going 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs. Jessie Munson also chipped in, going 2-for-4 for Oakland.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Grizzlies took the lead for good in the second, scoring for the first time in the inning. Shannon Carr came across to score the lone run of the inning for Oakland and get them on the board.
The Golden Grizzlies then tacked on runs in the fourth and sixth innings, with their biggest output coming in the sixth when they scored three times. Those three runs came across on a three-run homer from Brummitt that scored Maci Brown and Madison Jones.
