ALYSSA GAUDIO SET TO RESIGN FOLLOWING 2022 SEASON

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Head Women's Golf Coach Alyssa Gaudio has announced she will resign from her position following the conclusion of the 2022 season after spending seven and a half years at the helm of the program.

"For the last seven and a half years, Oakland has been my home and my players have become my family. It is with a heavy heart that I am stepping away from coaching, but continuing to build my family," Gaudio said. "My husband, daughter and I will be moving to Illinois to be closer to family, and eagerly await the birth of our son this July."

The three-time Horizon League Coach of the Year guided the Golden Grizzlies to the program's first-ever conference championship in 2016 and first NCAA appearance. Gaudio led Oakland to back-to-back runner up finishes in 2018-19, coaching the first-ever player in program history to win an individual league title in Maddelyn Zack in 2019.

Under Gaudio's guidance, she has led 16 student-athletes to All-Horizon League honors and six to the All-Tournament team.

"I appreciate Alyssa's leadership and contributions to Golden Grizzlies athletics. Over the past seven and a half years, Alyssa led teams and student-athletes to championship success while building a culture that helped foster student-athlete excellence and personal development," Director of Athletics, Steve Waterfield said. "Though she will be missed, I am very happy for her and her family as they move to Illinois and start another chapter in their family journey. I wish them all much happiness and success in the years to come."

During the 2018-19 campaign, Oakland shattered eight school records, and won three tournament titles at the Golden Grizzlies Invitational, Motor City Cup and Dolores Black Falcon Invitational.

Gaudio's leadership went beyond the course and into the classroom, coaching two student-athletes to five Horizon League All-Academic awards, nine-time WGCA All-American Scholar Team honorees, and more than 30 league honor roll recognitions.

"Thank you to my Oakland family, my players both past and present, as well as our Director of Athletics, Steve Waterfield, for a wonderful seven years as your women's golf coach. Go Golden Grizzlies!" Gaudio added.
The athletics department will soon begin a national search for the next head women's golf coach.
