OAKLAND RALLIES FROM LATE TIE FOR 5-4 WIN OVER EASTERN MICHIGAN

YPSILANTI, Mich. - The Oakland Golden Grizzlies broke through after a 4-4 tie in the seventh inning to take down the Eastern Michigan Eagles 5-4 Tuesday.

Brandon Decker (1-1) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Oakland (7-11). The right-hander went three shutout innings while giving up one hit, allowing no walks and striking out two. Travis Densmore also made an impact on the mound for the Golden Grizzlies, throwing 5.1 scoreless innings while allowing three hits, with two walks and five strikeouts.

At the plate, the Golden Grizzlies were paced by senior Cam Post, who went 1-for-5 on the day with a double and an RBI. Brandon Nigh furnished a noteworthy day at the plate as well, going 0-for-1 with four walks. Thomas Green also contributed for Oakland, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate while adding an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Golden Grizzlies got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Brad Goulet came across to score the lone run of the inning for Oakland and get them on the board.

The Golden Grizzlies lost the lead they built in the first, but got back on the board in the third trailing 4-1. Oakland's offense had a good inning, putting three runs on the scoreboard, which evened the score at 4-4.

That 4-4 tie turned into a 5-4 Oakland lead in the eighth. The Golden Grizzlies scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Green. The score remained 5-4 for the rest of the game, as Oakland held on for the win.
