OAKLAND FALLS FOR SECOND-STRAIGHT GAME IN HORIZON LEAGUE PLAY

DAYTON, Ohio. – Oakland University Men's Basketball suffered a 75-64 defeat on the road to Wright State University at the Nutter Center on Saturday night.

Trey Townsend's jumper from Osei Price started things off at the Nutter Center as Wright State (14-10, 11-4 HL) hit an answer three-pointer. Micah Parrish was sent to the free throw line to complete an and one early on after taking a hack on the layup as he sank it to lead 5-3 early on.

Jalen Moore sank a jumper from the free throw line that saw Oakland (16-7, 9-3 HL) go up at 7-3 with just under 15 minutes remaining in the half as Parrish followed suit to make things 9-3.

Blake Lampman hit back-to-back three pointers as well as got a line drive in the paint to fall for eight points to his credit as Oakland hovered above Wright State 23-17 at the under eight media timeout.

Things were knotted up at 31-31 at the final media timeout of the half with Blake Lampman feeling it from beyond the arc going 4-6 (66.7%) from three for 14 points from the field. Wright State clawed their way back behind a 54.2% (13-24) FG% as Oakland's scoring stalled.

It wasn't until Brody Parker's three-pointer after he'd entered the game that put Oakland back on top as the Golden Grizzlies called a timeout with 21 seconds remaining in the half as OU led by one.

Both teams would go into the locker room after neither team could hold possession within that time frame as the score held at 34-33. Lampman still stood as the team's leading scorer with 14 points with Parrish just behind with seven points and seven rounds to lead the team.

As a team, Oakland was 45.2% (14-31) from the field at the break going 5-15 (33.3%) from deep while hitting the only free throw attempt given from Parrish. Wright State outrebounded Oakland through the first 20 minutes 20-14 while the Golden Grizzlies put up 19 bench points.

Like the start of the game, Townsend followed through on an easy layup behind a pair of Raider baskets. Cain's back-to-back field goal attempts boosted the Golden Grizzlies up 49-43 with just under 14:30 remaining in the half as the grad senior started cooking in the scoring column.

Wright State brought it back within two as the game floated under ten minutes before Townsend found a cutting Cain to stay ahead 57-53. With the game at 59-57 both teams continued to battle with the game under the rim becoming more-and-more pivotal as Oakland edged WSU 26-20 in that category.

Off a Golden Grizzly turnover, the Raiders retook the lead to force an Oakland timeout with 4:34 remaining as the game stood 63-61 in favor of the home green and white. Things remained deadlocked at the under four with the game at 65-62 in favor of WSU as the Raiders continued to pull away.

A few last-minute turnovers by the Golden Grizzlies finished the game as the Raiders walked away with the 75-64 win. Oakland has now dropped their second-straight Horizon League game.

OU finished with a 42.9% (24-56) FG% behind Lampman's 16 points. Cain, who finished the first half with zero, finished the day with 13 and tied with Parrish as the team's leading rebounder with 11. Notably, Cain tags his 11th double-double of the year while Lampman was two points shy of his career high in points through tied a high in field goals made.

One final regular season road test is on deck for Oakland as the team will venture to Youngstown, Ohio for a match with Youngstown State University on Wednesday, February 16 at 7 p.m.
