Golden Grizzlies Break Two More School Records For the Weekend

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Oakland Swim and Dive teams reached the halfway point of the Zippy Invitational in Akron, Ohio knocking down an additional two school records in the water.

On top of her record-setting performance in the 200-yard backstroke yesterday, Susan LaGrand responded today with yet another smashed school record in the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:57.33 coming in first at the invitational.

To couple this, the men's A relay team consisting of Marko Khotnetskyi, Christian Bart, Sofus Balladone, and Sam McKenzie also slammed a school record with their performances in the 400-yard medley relay with a finishing time of 3:09.70, again, just a hair away from claiming the top spot behind UPenn's time of 3:09.40.

Notably, Jonas Cantrell claimed an impressive third-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle as he swam in at 4:31.78. Bart would then take the second-place title in an intense 50-yard freestyle competition with a time of 19.93, right up there with UPenn's winning time of 19.83.

Lastly, the women's A relay team consisting of LaGrand, Taylor Bailey, Jordyn Shipps, and Mia Keranen completed the 400-yard medley relay in a dominating third-place finish with a time of 3:39.15.

The Golden Grizzlies women's team maintains the fourth-place ranking (473.5), and the men take the third-place ranking (541.5), so far in Akron. Competition resumes tomorrow following a similar structure with prelims starting at 9:00 am, diving prelims at 1:30 pm, and finals at 6:00 pm.
