ROCHESTER, Mich. – Taking advantage of another beautiful fall day in Michigan, the Golden Grizzlies and Robert Morris Colonials decided to take their Sunday, November 6 Horizon League Tournament Quarterfinal match all the way to a penalty kick shootout, ending in what is officially listed as a 2-2 draw with Oakland advancing on penalty kicks.
Tied at one after 90 minutes of play, the two teams embarked on overtime, which consists of two 10-minute periods and does not include a Golden Goal (sudden death).

Charlie Retzer put the Golden Grizzlies ahead, 2-1, in the sixth minute of the first overtime, but Hawaiian sophomore Lucas Shearer came up with the equalizer for the Colonials in the sixth minute of the second extra session.
With the Oakland Soccer Field crowd hanging on every move, the Golden Grizzlies and Robert Morris took their shootout nine men deep, with Oakland converting six and the Colonials five.

Jack Klomparens found the back of the net on their penalty kicks for the Golden Grizzlies.
Named to the Horizon League All-Freshman Team on Friday, Michael Sly, Jr. came up big following Klomparens' successful attempt, coming up with a diving stop on sophomore Jacob Haskins to send Oakland to the Thursday, November 10 semifinals, where they will square off with the host and top-seeded Cleveland State Vikings at 1 p.m.

- There was one red and five yellow cards issued Saturday, with the red and three yellows being on Robert Morris and the other two yellows on the Golden Grizzlies:
- Red: Freshman William Dodzi Afawubo (17th minute)
- Yellow: Robert Morris – Freshman Anass Hadran (71st) and sophomores Gabe Norris (90th) and Charlie Lawrence (99th); Oakland – Juniors Owen Smith (99th) and Sebastian Nuzzo (106th)
- Sunday's result brings the all-time series record between these two schools to 5-0 in the Golden Grizzlies' favor
HORIZON LEAGUE TOURNAMENT RUNDOWN
On top of Oakland's thriller, No. 3 IUPUI held off the No. 6 Detroit Mercy Titans, 1-0, in Sunday's other quarterfinal, setting up a meeting between the Jaguars and No. 2 Wright State Raiders on Thursday in a 4 p.m. semifinal.
