Panthers Defeat Oakland at Home

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Milwaukee defeated Oakland University Volleyball 3-0 inside the Athletics Center O'rena on Friday night in Rochester.

Kennedy Dolmage's service ace would kick things off in Friday night #HLVB action as the Golden Grizzlies would jump out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first, eventually going up at the 6-2 mark behind Patti Cesarini and a handful of Panther errors. A 4-0 run by Milwaukee would give the visitors their first lead of the game at 11-10, going up by as much as three at 16-13 while Cesarini and a Haley Brown service ace would reel them back in.

A block by Libby Gentile and Anika Prisby held the game at 20-19 in favor of Oakland before Milwaukee would put the game away at 25-21 in the first frame for the 1-0 set edge.

A back-and-forth match would begin the second frame starting with Jessica Riedl's kills before the Panthers would retake the lead of 7-4 from a 4-0 run. With the game at 15-15, Cesarini and company would fight through the black jerseys down by one at the 19-18 point with an attacking error by Milwaukee knotting things up. 

Milwaukee would end on a 5-0 run to win the second 25-20 en route to the third set start with Clark Adams getting on the kill column. Once again, the visiting squad would put up a 6-0 streak to take a confident 14-8 edge with Cesarini sprinkling a kill in. Oakland would mount a late set comeback, keeping things tense inside the Athletics Center O'rena at 22-19 before the Panthers cruised to a 25-19 set three win.

  • Cesarini hits her 13th double-double of the year
  • Brown tied a season-high in service aces with three, and the Golden Grizzlies tallied five to Milwaukee's one
  • Prisby saw her name in the box score with five blocks with both Gentile and Cesarini with three
  • Cesarini held ten kills while Adams and Libby Gentile had eight and six, respectively
  • Cesarini and Emily Wichmann tied with a team-high 10 digs

Senior Day will take place tomorrow, November 5, at 4:00 pm against Green Bay to round out the home 2022 schedule.
