Regular Season Concludes with 3-1 Win at IUPUI

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Oakland University Volleyball finished the regular season with a 3-1 win over IUPUI in the #HLVB finale in Indianapolis on Saturday afternoon.

Two-straight attacking errors by IUPUI would start things off for Oakland in Indianapolis before Libby Gentile and Anna Nie got on the board as well to spark a 4-1 run. The home Jaguars would tie it up twice in the beginning stages of the frame before the Golden Grizzlies, behind the arms of Patti Cesarini and Avolyn Lepo, would pull away to win soundly 25-15.

OU started out the second set on a 6-1 run with the Jaguars regaining the lead at the 11-10 mark. Each team would go toe-to-toe throughout the frame, going on stretches of three to four points at a time. Gentile would make things interesting with IUPUI on the brink of set point with her kill before the Jaguars converted on the following point to win 25-22.

The Golden Grizzlies held the home team to just 12 points in the third set as Cesarini, Nie, and Clarke Adams had their names littered over the play-by-play in the stat sheet with their kills along with a slew of Jaguars attacking errors. In the end, it would go Oakland's way 25-12.

IUPUI would come back with a vengeance to start the fourth with Gentile and Cesarini getting kills early to keep the Jaguars' attack at bay. The game would be tied once more at 12-12 before Adams, Jessica Riedl, and errors by the red and black would lift OU back to a 16-12 lead in which they'd never look back from. IUPUI threw in a scary, four-point rally to bring the lead back down to three at 23-20 through Nie and Cesarini would combine and win the fourth set, and match point, 25-21.
