Oakland Finishes Dual Meet Against Michigan

ROCHESTER, Mich - The Oakland Men's and Women's Swim and Dive team competed in home dual meet against Michigan where the women totaled a final score of 160-97 to the Wolverines, while the men's team totaled 169-107. 

The Golden Grizzlies made their mark tonight as they totaled an impressively high rank of finishes against the Wolverines, as they ranked top three for 22 of 33 the events tonight. Starting off with the 200-yard medley relay, the Golden Grizzlies men's and women's teams both took second place in their teams of four, The women included Susan LaGrand, Taylor Bailey, Sophia Davis, and Jordyn Shipps finishing with a time of 1:43.88. For the men, the relay was powered by Marko Khotynetskyi, Christian Bart, Sofus Balladone, and Sam McKenzie with a time of 1:29.95.

Both men and women had their fair share of remarkable times tonight with three first-place finishes from the men and four from the women. Khotynetskyi kicked it off for the men finishing with a time of 48.55 for the 100-yard backstroke. Not only this, but Khotynetskyi then continued to dominate as he took first in the 200-yard backstroke with a 1:48.91 final time as well. Alongside him for the men's team was Bart who secured the top spot for the 100-yard breaststroke at a time of 55.31 for the win. 

Bailey kicked off the women's momentum as she punched the first-place spot for the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:04.96. Additionally, Bailey went on to take first in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:18.90, respectively. Continuing this momentum was LaGrand who took first place in the 200-yard backstroke with a strong time of 2:01.48. 

The Golden Grizzlies diving team high scorers for the night were Elleana Chalifoux who came in third for the women's one-meter diving event with a final score of 258, and alongside her, Nick Schmid who secured second in the men's one-meter diving contest with a final score of 234.68.

The Golden Grizzlies will be headed off to Toledo for the next non-conference meet on Friday, October 14th.
