Ready for another #HLWSOC home Match-up against Robert Morris

ROCHESTER, Mich - The Oakland Women's Soccer team is set to compete against Robert Morris this Sunday on home facility at 1:00 pm. 

The Golden Grizzlies are currently 4-2-7 for the season and 1-1-3 for the conference after securing another win on Thursday against Cleveland State with a goal from Sophie Wilsey and an assist from Sydney Grodsinsky. Oakland outshot Cleveland State and prevented them from scoring throughout the duration of the game for a much deserved win. 

Oakland goal leaders that continue to impress this season are Alexa Sabbagh with three goals and one assist, Sami Lopez and Macey Wierenga with both one goal and two assists, Jayna Fraser with one goal and one assist, and six other Golden Grizzly players with one goal each. 

Goalkeeping for the Golden Grizzlies this season is Noëmi Stadelmann and Haley Lindow. Stadelmann records a save percentage of 86.8% so far this season with 33 total saves. Lindow records a save percentage of 80% with eight saves, respectively. 

SCOUTING REPORT

The Colonials are currently 7-2-4 for the season and 1-2-2 for the conference. RMU is coming off a recent non-conference win against La Roche of Pennsylvania. 

Goal leaders for the season are Haleigh Finale, Gabriella Lecuona, and Elisa Corvalan with three goals each. Following them are ten other Colonial players with goals this season. Robert Morris has put up a total of 25 goals this season. 

Goalkeeping for the Colonials is Isabella Bohlen with a save percentage of 72.7% and a total of 40 saves this season, and accompanying her is goalkeeper Morgan Brustman with one save. 

 


NATIONAL RECOGNITION
The United Soccer Coaches revealed its week one North Region Poll on August 23 with Oakland the No. 6 team in the region just behind Michigan and above Indiana, respectively.

FAVERO CONTRACT EXTENDED
Head Coach Juan Pablo Favero's contract has been extended through the 2026 season, Oakland University announced in August.

PRESEASON NO. 1
Oakland was selected as the preseason favorite in the 2022 #HLWSOC Preseason Poll with 115 votes and five first-place votes. 

NEWCOMERS TO WATCH
Seven newcomers enter the 2022 Golden Grizzlies roster on both sides of the field including transfer Allie Tefend and freshman Anuhea Aluli from Hawaii. 

LOPEZ PLAYER TO WATCH
Midfielder Sami Lopez is one of 38 women named to an exclusive list that is the NCAA Division I Players to Watch release which included four returning All-Americans from a year ago. Lopez is the only Horizon League student-athlete mentioned. 

FOUR ON 2021 #HLWSOC ALL-LEAGUE TEAM
Lopez and Zak find themselves on the All-League First Team roster with Dhlamini on the Second Team List in 2021. Rounding out the honors was Sharon Sampson on the All-Freshman Team squad. 

NATIONAL TEAM - GOLDEN GRIZZLIES
Dhlamini and Sharon Sampson are two Golden Grizzlies playing on the national stage as Dhlamini's South African National Team won the 2022 WAFCON final to qualify for the Women's World Cup in 2023. Sampson made a roster spot on the U-20 "Black Princess of Ghana" National team, playing in the 2022 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Costa Rica.
