MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Their final regular season road match of the 2022 campaign, the Oakland Golden Grizzlies (3-9-3, 3-2-2 Horizon League) will make the nearly 400-mile trip northwest to battle the Milwaukee Panthers (1-7-7, 0-3-4) on Saturday, October 29 at 2 p.m.
Looking to snap a two-match skid, the Golden Grizzlies are currently holding onto the No. 5 spot in the six-team Horizon League Tournament field with 11 points, one point ahead of the Robert Morris Colonials and two above the Green Bay Phoenix.
With teams receiving three points for a league win and one for a draw, Saturday's clash with Milwaukee represents a prime opportunity for Oakland to move as high as a tie for second in the conference standings, depending on the results of the IUPUI Jaguars vs. Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons and Wright State Raiders at Cleveland State Vikings matches the same day.
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST THE PANTHERS AND LAST MEETING
First squaring off just under 20 years ago on November 23, 2002, the Golden Grizzlies have faced Milwaukee 15 times, winning six, losing eight and tying one.
Part of a two-match win streak in the series, both of which have ended with 4-3 scores, Oakland topped the Panthers the last time two met in Rochester on October 30, 2021.
SCOUTING MILWAUKEE
Coming off consecutive road draws against the Northwestern Wildcats and Northern Kentucky Norse, the Panthers are led offensively by sophomore forward Logan Farrington, who paces the team in both goals (six) and points (15).
Swedish freshman Emil Lindgren Pedersen (13) and fellow sophomores Gabe Anguil (11) and Raul Medina (10) are the other three Milwaukee players in double-figures in points.
Sophomore Gijs Van Schouten and junior Nick Chiappa have split the goalkeeping duties nearly evenly, playing in nine and seven matches, respectively.
