Oakland Secures Strong Last Win of the Regular Season

ROCHESTER, Mich -  The Oakland Women's Soccer Team capped off the 2022 conference season with a bang ending in a 4-0 win against Detroit Mercy. The Golden Grizzlies now stand at an 8-3-7 record for the season.

Eager to get the ball rolling for the Golden Grizzlies was goal leader Alexa Sabbagh as she put one in the net at only the 15-minute mark of the first half with an assist by Karabo Dhlamini. The energy continued to spur soon after Sabbagh's goal and just five minutes after securing this goal, Carmela Barro came in to punch yet another early goal into the night with help from Sami Lopez. The Golden Grizzlies continued to dominate first quarter of the game with increased energy from these two quick goals, however, they weren't finished yet. After a 20 minute period of strategic ball passing, Sharon Sampson got a look of the net and secured the third goal of the night assisted by both Izzy Karkaba and Dhlamini to conclude the first half.

Oakland came back on the field with the same momentum in the second half and proceeded to take control of the field. In the last seven minutes of the game, Jayna Fraser made an incredible last goal for the Golden Grizzlies adding one more point for them on the board to end the game.

Goalkeeper Noemi Stadelmann and Hayley Lindow shared the net tonight for the Golden Grizzlies and did not allow any goals from the Titans leaving them scoreless for the night.

The seniors on the team held a memorable recognition for their incredible achievements over their period of time at Oakland University as a student-athlete.
