ROCHESTER, Mich. - Jalen Moore of men's basketball and Alona Blackwell of women's basketball have been named Oakland Student-Athletes of the Week presented by Prairie Farms.
After totaling 15 points, and 14 assists against Milwaukee, Moore earned his seventh double double of the season, now tied for the team-high with Jamal Cain and is tied for 14th in the country. Moore is in sole position of first place in the nation in assists with 8.4 per game and 117 total, nine more ahead of second place.
Blackwell was one of six active Golden Grizzlies in their lone game against Purdue Fort Wayne. The junior was the primary offensive option during the Golden Grizzlies 16-point comeback and finished as the leading scorer with 17 points.
She was second in rebounds, with five. Five of those 17 points came in the last two minutes when Blackwell hit a corner three to take a one-point lead with a minute and a half left. She came back and hit a floater on the next possession to seal the 3-point win. Her eight fourth-quarter points helped improve Oakland's conference record to 4-2.
